OtterBox makes really sturdy cases for Phones and we discovered that here. But they have also released cases for the iPad. They sent us a OtterBox Commuter Series Case for Review . A plastic shell , silicon layer along with a screen protector offer 3 level protection for the device.

Here are the contents of the package

otterbox

  • The plastic and silicon portions of the case.
  • Screen protector
  • Cleaning cloth
  • Applicator
  • Instructions

It took us about 5 minutes to get the case on the iPad. It fits really well and it was a bit hard to get the top part of the iPad to fit into the right position.

Here is how the iPad looks with the case on. Not much too notice apart from frame running around the sides.

On the rear you would find a nice opening for the Apple logo along with a removable portion for using the dock.

One the side you have a opening for the lock ley and the volume keys are accesible too

The speaker is wisely not covered

The case like all cases adds some amount of thickness to the iPad but considering the face that it offers protection to the device, this is acceptable and not something we would complain about.otterbox

A support for a stand which is present in the Defender Series would have been good.

To conclude , the case offers good protection against bumps , scratches etc. and fits very well around the product. Removing it and adding it back is not going to be very easy. May be thats why it fits well.

Pros

  • Really good overall protection
  • Most ports covered
  • Support for Docking
  • Opening for Apple Logo
  • Screen protector

Cons

  • Dock cover fit not great
  • Not very attractive

You can buy the case at OtterBox for $64.95

No long-time aerial combat fan can be a stranger to NovaLogics Comanche helicopter combat series. Known for its comparatively realistic terrain rendering thanks to its use of voxel technology, the series culminated in the 2001 release of Comanche 4 for Windows PCs. A recent banner spotted on NovaLogics website seems to indicate that iOS gamers may soon get the opportunity to deal out some death and destruction from the cockpit of a RAH-66 gunship.

width=510

Mixed in among a number of promotional graphics on NovaLogics site, the banner in question depicts an iPhone 4 with the silhouette of a Comanche helicopter rendered on its screen, along with a blueprint side-shot sketch of the craft shown below phrase Coming Soon. Since we became aware of the banner a few days back [ thanks Kamil ], weve sought confirmation and any details on this upcoming title through several NovaLogic channels, sadly with no success.

The Comanche series made its debut in 1992 and is centered around the Boeing / Sikorsky RAH-66 Comanche helicopter gunship which was in development / prototyping at the time of the games releases. And, while the Comanche program was cancelled by the U.S. Army in 2004 before fielding, NovaLogics Comanche series stands as a rather unique and satisfying combat simulation experience and one thats definitely more sim than simple arcade, first-person blaster.

See a game trailer for Comanche 4 for Windows, featuring in-engine play samples.

Having enjoyed Comanche 3 and 4 on the PC in days past, the prospect of a new iteration of the title on todays iOS devices which are far more powerful than the PCs of the games day with full accelerometer / gyroscope controls has me pretty excited. You can be sure well pass on any details were able to dig up on this upcoming title as soon as we get them.
