DeceasedPixel just released an update to their people-chomping action game Super Mega Worm [App Store] that makes the title a universal application, adding native support for the iPad. It's an update I was pleased to note, as I've lately been somewhat addicted to the iPhone version, and this update make all those blocky pixels that much bigger and sharper.

Super Mega Worm opens with an 8-bit retro cutscene explaining how humans have consumed the earth, and how mother nature now has a bone to pick with us. She tasks her favorite pest exterminator, Wojira the Death Worm, with wiping humans from the earth and restoring balance to the force…you get the idea. It's a nice little setup for the mayhem that is the hallmark of the giant worm game, and an introduction to the glorious mario-like pixel art.

Wojira the subterranean worm is controlled by a slider, a tilting mechanic, or a D-pad control, the last being a new feature brought with this update. Additional buttons appear on your screen as you unlock your spitting attack, EMPs, fireballs, slam attacks and other abilities as you work your way through the worm's 24 levels. Another new feature is Game Center support, a most welcome addition.

Super Mega Worm, based on Death Worm, is a an exercise in basic gameplay that's a whole lot of fun. The golden moment in the game for me is when you see two people walking innocently across the countryside and you erupt from the ground to devour one of the pair, filling the remaining human with panic and dread. (That's got to be a surprise.)

Super Mega Worm is currently on sale for 66% off, at $0.99.

As discussed before, it is not just the big players but also the regular camera making companies that have utilized Photokina 2010 pretty well to launch their unique products in between the world media. In a similar launch Seitz Phototechnik, a Swiss company, has announced a camera that looks weird but for sure has its unique advantages which helps it stand out of the crowd.

The Seitz D3 has the capability to generate 617 sized images of upto 160 million pixels in just about few seconds. The Swiss company confirms that Seitz D3 has high speed scanning sensor which is used to generate such huge images in no time. The camera also comes up with a digital touchscreen. The camera has been designed in such a fashion that it can be easily operated and handled in toughest conditions.

Though Alpha has tagged its new launch, named as ALPA12 STC, at Photokina as compact camera for travellers yet the images of the new camera has led us image how uncomfortable this camera would be for travelling.

The ALPA 12 STC is said to be the youngest member of the ALPA 12 family and Alpha dreams of setting a benchmark with ALPA 12 STC in the stream of handheld cameras though I still consider designs of point and shoot by the likes of Nikon, Olympus and Canon to be more superior.

Alpha of Switzerland has come up with a whole range of products at Photokina 2010 though the one that has been its major launch is the ALPA12 STC camera. All the shift movements have been mounted on roller bearings hence making it easy to tag the ALPA12 STC as a digital camera.

The shape of the ALPA12 STC supposedly allows travelling photographers to easily mount and shift the camera on tripods. The STC (stitching / shifting travel compact) has been completely integrated in the modular and extensive ALPA12 platform.

The 134 mm high and 145 mm wide ALPA12 STC will cost you $3,682 which could easily be more than your tour budget.

We have been waiting for the big players to make their moves but we have hardly had any announcements at the Photokina this year. Looks like the giants have decided not to use the Photokina platform to launch their major products so as to avoid real timecriticism.

We do have something from HP though. Along with the launch of HP Designjet Z6200 Photo Printer series HP has also launched HP Vivid Photo links. Both when combined are said to deliver high quality outputs along with the speeds of high end printers.

The newly launched HP Designjet Z6200 photo printer has been especially designed for photo print shops, photo labs, design firms, advertising agencies and commercial printing. The output image has a resolution of 2400 dots per image which can easily be tagged as photo-quality prints. The printer also offers option for indoor applications from line drawings to photographic output to signage.

The HP Designjet Z6200 photo printer has been tagged as the successor to the HP Designjet Z6100 and is said to be twice as speedy when compared to its junior. The printer can easily print up to 1500 square feet on an hourly basis.

Photokina is on a roll and so are different companies that aren't letting go the chance to launch their products in the presence of the world media. Though we have discussed about the likes of Pentax, Fujifilm, Panasonic and Sigma and their new photography gadget yet one must not consider Photokina to be the gathering of industry biggies only.

Some of the regular players keep popping in and so is the case with Lensbaby. Tilt transformer from Lensbaby is one product that is doing rounds in Photokina and attracting plenty of attention.

The Lensbaby Tilt Transformer permits its users to permits any Nikkor Lens on a Micro Four Thirds of a Sony NEX mirrorless camera which helps to shoot images that will have the very obvious tilt-lens look with them. This tilt lens effect is usually possible with the help of tilt lenses which are usually pretty costly. Such effects give the image the look of toy scale model.

Lensbaby says that the tilt transformer permits photographs to be tilted twice as much as compared to regular tilt lenses. This proves to be a sure shot advantage of Lensbaby's tilt transformer over its competitors. You will have to shell out $250 to grab one of these so better do your calculations before you proceed.

We know that Verizon is working on LTE, and they have plans to launch their first LTE device in early 2011. And also AT&T announced that they will be launching LTE next year, so both carriers are trying hard to better than each other. HTC CEO Peter Chou said that they will bring the first LTE device in 2011, and as we know that HTC launched the first 4G powered phone via Sprint (HTC EVO 4G), and also the first HSPA+ phone via T-Mobile (G2). So HTC has full plans to take the LTE too. Well it's not confirm yet that which carrier will pick it, but I think it's Verizon. Because Verizon is launching LTE before AT&T, so if HTC want to bring the first LTE device, then for sure it's Verizon. But there is one more confusion, that what will be the operating system? Verizon and HTC both love Android, because HTC is making a lot of Android phones, and you can also see a lot of Android handsets on Verizon shelves. But it could be WP7, because Microsoft said that they will start shipping the CDMA version of WP7 phones in early 2011. So lets wait for some official words. By the way what do you want, Android or Windows Phone 7?
