We had earlier reported that Apple is planning to launch an HD version of the iPad 2 later in 2011. But now it seems that the model has been cancelled. Peter Miserk of Jefferies and Co said that the cancellation of the iPad 2 HD has resulted in the need for 1 Million units to become retooled. The iPad 2 Q4 2011 manufacturing has also been cut down from 13.6 Million units to 12 Million units. Misek reported that he expects to see a new iPad 3 earlier next year probably in January 2012 and that the reason for the decrease in manufacturing is due to inventory caution taken considering the potential demand slowdown. source

We already saw the Apple iPhone 5 and 4S names appear on Cincinnati Bell. Now Apple has accidentally revealed the iPhone 4S name in the latest iTunes beta that was released on Friday.

The phone is described as the iPhone 4S but it uses the same icon as the iPhone 4 CDMA which suggests that it should look very similar to the iPhone 4 if not exactly the same.

The picture of the iPhone 4 might just have been a placeholder but rumors suggest a phone that looks similar to the iPhone 4.

Even though the design and dimensions might stay the same, we could expect to see some hardware changes like the difference between iPhone 3G and 3GS. But since it's supposed to be a cheaper model, its quite possible there would be no change at all.

The Apple iPhone 5 and the 4S may just be a day or two away from the official announcement but that hasn't stopped rumors for the next generation iPhone 6 from surfacing.

The rumor suggests that we may soon see iPhones and even iPads with curved displays. A similar rumor had circulated before the Apple iPhone 4 was announced but it turned out to have a regular flat screen.

Earlier in May this year, Apple had purchased 200-300 glass cutting devices specialized in curved glass. Although the May purchase might make it appear as if the iPhone 5 might have a curved display as well, sources say otherwise.

What we can do now is just wait and see if the iPhone 5 has a curved display. If not theres always next year to look forward to.
