We heard about it a lot of times that Xperia X10 family is getting the Android 2.1 treatment, but every time its just a wrong rumor or it's delayed, but now, it's finally coming. Well, it's very late, but something is better than nothing. Sony Ericsson has announced that they will officially bring the Android 2.1 to Xperia X10 family this Sunday. First region to receive the update is the Nordic region, followed by Europe. No words on when the US variants of Xperia X10 will get the update. So you will receive the update anytime if you live in the following region after Sunday. Android 2.2 is already out from a long time now, and now Google is even planning to launch the Android 2.3. I think Sony Ericsson is not planning to update the Xperia X10 family to the newer versions i.e Android 2.2, 2.3. Xperia X10 is a pretty good device, but that old Android built is like a dark black stain on it. I hope SE will keep updating their devices, which is very important, right folks? Well, check out what you are getting in Android 2.1 :

Xperia X10:

HD video recording with continuous auto-focus for high quality videos
Upgrade of the Android platform to Android 2.1
New back up and restore application, with extended content back up
5 homescreens for apps, widgets, shortcuts and folders
Social phonebook which automatically syncs contact pictures from Facebook and shows when your friends are online

Xperia X10 mini and X10 mini pro:

Improved Bluetooth functionality with support for sending and receiving pictures, contacts and more
New backup and restore application with extended content back up
Automatic synchronization of your contact pictures between Facebook and your phone book
Improved ways of handling pictures, audio, text and numbers in your messages
Upgrade of the Android platform to Android platform 2.1

apple ipad vs samsung galaxy tab indiaWe had the chance to compare the Apple iPad with the Samsung Galaxy Tab. While the iPad has a metallic body , the Galaxy Tab has a plastic one. We found it easier to grip and type on the Galaxy Tab but found the large display on the iPad more fun to use. The iPad is heavier at 730g ( WiFi+3G version ) compared to the Tab at 385g.The iPad has a 9.7 inch (1024x768px) LED Blacklit display with IPS technology while the Tab has a 7 inch ( 1024x600px) TFT Display.

The Galaxy Tab is very portable indeed but Android 2.2 seems more like a phone UI rather than a tablet UI. What do you think ?

We were at the Samsung Galaxy Tab India launch event earlier today and had a chance to play with the device for a little while . Hardware wise the Galaxy Tab seems pretty impressive. No rough edges or creaky sounds. In short solid piece of hardware. The size of the Galaxy Tab makes it very portable. No it still wont fit it in trouser pocket, may be a coat pocket. The screen is pretty responsive and Android 2.2 FroYo is pretty fast. The only bad thing about the device is it's Price Rs.38000

samsung galaxy tab indiaHere are some pics of the device. Enjoy the pics while we work on a post about our take on the Galaxy Tab

Just in time for Halloween comes word of an official Evil Dead game coming to the App Store. For those that don't know, Evil Dead is a campy 80s horror movie directed by Sam Raimi (yes, the director of the Spider-Man movies) that follows a group of college kids as they spend the weekend in a remote cabin in the Tennessee woods. They accidentally unleash demons into the world by using The Book of the Dead, and all manner of Hell breaks loose. Main character Ash (the "King of All B-Movies" Bruce Campbell) spends all night fending off his friends as they each become infected with evil spirits. Evil Dead has become a cult classic horror film in the nearly 30 years since it was released.

We literally have no details about the upcoming game, but are impressed with how faithfully the game represents the original film in this trailer:

We're eager to find out any more information about this Evil Dead game that is coming to our iOS devices, but so far the developers are remaining hush about any specifics. What's interesting is that the trailer seems to use the actual audio directly from the movie itself, and what is shown closely mimics the events in the movie as well (though with Nintendo Mii-like characters). Also, this comes after the announcement of an Army of Darkness (the third movie in the Evil Dead trilogy) iOS game coming next year, but it doesn't appear that the two games are related aside from subject matter. We'll bring you any more news on this game as we get it, and until then I'll just pop in my Evil Dead Necronomicon Edition DVD and patiently wait.
