EA just dropped us a note about the upcoming Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12 which apparently is coming to the App Store this month. Knowing what we do about EA and how they release games, that only means two possible dates for its release: This Thursday the 24th or next Thursday the 31st. While we're not entirely sure which of these two dates it will drop on, we do know quite a few details about what it will include-

The coolest addition is also the feature EA boasts about first, a "closest to the pin" Facebook challenge which kicks off twice a week. Apparently, much like how you're able to compete with friends in Bejeweled 2 using Facebook, you will soon be able to take a shot on a par 3 hole to see who can get the closest to the hole. It sounds cool, but seems to be entirely dependent on having friends who use Facebook, have an iOS device, and have purchased Tiger Woods 12. There's also the "Tiger Challenge" which is an array of over 20 mini games that earn in-game cashola to then be spent on the entree fee to PGA events or to pump up your golfer's stats.

Tiger is also coming back with "lush, Retina Display visuals" as the above screenshot mentions, along with 8 courses, and 8 PGA pros to play as in 4 different game modes. There's even going to be a free version which will give you full access to the previously mentioned closest to the hole Facebook competition as well as 3 holes on the TPC Sawgrass course. Sadly, multiplayer sounds like it's going to be local only, but I suppose you can't have everything.

Stay tuned for either this Thursday or next where we'll have a full review of the game. I've been a huge fan of previous Tiger Woods games, and much like the yearly Madden iterations, I'm expecting this one to be marginally better than previous installments… What more can you ask for?

As I sit down to write this review, I can't help but notice that it's rather late in the day evening, in fact. The plan was to get this post up and out hours ago. The problem here is the fact that I've been playing the game that is the focus of this review, Forget-Me-Not [App Store] from Nyaru Labs, this entire day from initial download in the wee morning hours to moments ago. Whenever I managed to set it down, just minutes later I felt that a little bit more "research" was needed. And, I have no doubt that before this post is through, yet more research will be called for. That is how excellent this retrolicious lovechild of PAC-MAN and Rogue truly is.

This game is just awesome. It drops your blocky little onscreen avatar into the top level of the ever-changing, pixellated NEON DUNJUN on a mission to collect flowers, shoot monsters, gather fruit, grab the key, and get to the next floor and fast, lest the waving ghost of motivation appear! When you collect all the flowers on the floor, the doorway to the next floor appears, and from there you just need the key (which the monsters are fond of running off with).

You're constantly shooting in the direction you're headed, but you're firepower (and health) can be increased with potions collected after slaying certain beasties. But, there's another attack mechanic at your disposal, as well. The game utilizes a swipe-anywhere mechanic, and you can swipe your next move while still heading down the current corridor. If you do, until you get to the end, you'll "grind" against the wall. Grind enough and you'll start to glow and take on destructive powers so mighty that just walking into a monster will destroy it, and a speed-boost comes with. But grind too long and it's basically POP!

As for the floors themselves, you'll not frequently see once twice, as they're procedurally generated and wrap edge to edge. The bolts you're constantly firing wrap right along with them, so be careful the path you take unless, of course, you've got a nice, big, bolt-deflecting metal key in tow… A very nice touch, that.

Certain characters are a little more "interesting" than others. There are basically stationary, as well as walking, time bombs that just need one shot to start their countdown to exploding and taking out walls and anything else around them. And then there are the little guys that toss fireballs over the walls at you. A peaceful place, the NEON DUNJUN is not.

I just love this game. Every regular readers knows that I'm a retro nut, and Forget-Me-Not has retro goodness in droves. Of course, I love PAC-MAN and it's here. Dungeon crawlers are also a favorite of mine, and that, this is. So to me, Forget-Me-Not is just about the perfect game. Oh and, for those who've been wondering, I went back for two more "research sessions" during the writing of this article.

I urge everyone to check out the video and give serious thought to picking up this Universal (iPhone, iPad) App Store gem. If my testimony isn't enough, check out our forum readers' thoughts on this one (spoiler: they love it).

Call of Duty series has been popular since its first game, and speaking of Call of Duty games, it seems that the latest game from Call of Duty series has now achieved one amazing milestone.

Call of Duty: Black Ops might be a highly controversial game due to its terrorist related content, but it's also the best-selling game in the United States according to the National Purchase Diary. In just five months, Activision has managed to sell 13.7 million copies of Black Ops across all platforms. That's a huge success for Activision and the Call of Duty franchise, but it seems that critics aren't pleased with Activision's tactics saying that Activision focuses on annual releases of their best selling franchises. According to the critics, annual releases might become boring to the fans, but 13.7 million sold copies say otherwise.

samsung tab 10.1 new

Samsung has managed to change the design of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 after MWC. Looks like the company was not happy to release a tablet thicker than the Apple iPad 2 to the market. So what did they do ? They felt that the Galaxy Tab 10.1 was inadequate to take on the iPad 2 and they did not stop there. They went and redesigned the whole thing so that it is only 8.6 mm thick and weighs 595g. The earlier model was 10.9mm thick and weighed 599 g. Did Samsung just surprise Apple ? Take a look at the all new design in the photos below

LG Mobile Phones today launched the Wireless Charging Pad WCP-700 right in time for CTIA. This is the first time we are seeing a handset maker launch such a device. We have seen Powermat which does something similar.

Wireless charging makes use of Inductive coils to transfer electricity and requires that the phone being charged has a compatible back-cover.We are not sure if LG will be shipping battery-covers for the phone along with the device or whether it will be available separately.

Here are the key features of the Wireless charging pad

  • Visual, audible and tactile feedback allows user to see, feel and hear when the phone is placed properly on the pad
  • Power LED Blue = Plugged in
  • Battery LED Orange = Ready to Charge
  • Battery LED Flashing Green = Phone is Charging Correctly
  • Battery LED Solid Green = Phone is Fully Charged
  • Slim and sleek design allows for convenient storage, taking up minimal space
  • Effective Range 7mm from center of placement guide
  • Dimensions 6.29"x3.54"x0.39"

The Charging pad might not be totally wireless as you have to still connect the charging pad to the power outlet. But it's wireless for the phone and you dont have to connect the charger to it.

No word on the pricing or availability as of now. But Inductive charging is really cool as you can charge your gadgets when you leave them on your desk and you can use them without having to deal with entangled cables.

Great move by LG but wouldn't it be awesome to see all handset makers offering charging pads ? Wish it becomes a standard like microUSB !
