Touchscreen phones and other Touchscreen devices these days have thick bezels around their touchscreens. Well that is all set to change according to a spokesperson of the materials company 3M.
A new innovation in touchscreens and processor will allow devices to have touchscreen that extend to almost the edge of the device.
The way the current touchscreens work is through a transparent conducting mesh below the screen which detects finger movements. There are circuits below the bezel/border surrounding the screen that transmit these movements from the mesh to the processor.
Now the company 3M claims it has found a way to remove the bezel/border under which the circuits are placed by using Silver rather than ITO (Indium Tin Oxide). Apart from the smaller bezels, the response time is also reduced significantly by upto 10 times according to studies.
