Intel showcased its improved tablet user interface for MeeGo tablets today at MWC in Barcelona. Along with the version 1.2 UI special emphasis was paid to underlying hardware. The upcoming Oaktrail , Medfield platforms are poised to provide unparalleled computing performance in addition to great battery life.

Intel's Anand Chandrashekhar showed off the Medfield processor which will support advanced LTE networks along with new and improved imaging technologies which will allow for much better low light photography. Intel claims to be working on improving active usage battery life. What this means is that not only will the smartphones have great standby times , they will also run longer on a single charge.

Preliminary Medfield benchmarks show that the OS has double the performance of competing platforms. The Medfield processor will ship in smartphone products later this year and will support both MeeGo and Android.
