Microsoft is working hard on their latest web browser, and since the Release Candidate of Internet Explorer 9 has been released, officials from Microsoft think that its time to say goodbye to Internet Explorer 6.

It appears that Microsoft is trying to put an end to the Internet Explorer 6 with a project called IE6 Countdown. The purpose of the project is to lower the number of worldwide usage of Internet Explorer 6 to 1%. In addition to that, this campaign is trying to promote newer versions of Internet Explorer and to encourage people to use them instead of IE6. In addition, the campaign also has statistics about IE6 usage and appears that 12% of world population is still using IE6. As for the countries, most avid users of IE 6 are China and South Korea.

Its good to see that Microsoft is trying to put an end to the very dated IE6, and as mentoned, "10 years ago a browser was born. Its name was Internet Explorer 6. Now that we're in 2011, in an era of modern web standards, it's time to say goodbye".
