As you might have read, Google is planning to release a new version of Google TV, and according to the latest news, Google is determined to bring Android OS to our TV screens. But in addition to this, Google is working on another project called Android TV.
News says that Android TV is different from Google TV and the company behind Android TV is Geniatech. This device is actually a small set top box that will run Android 2.2 on your TV via HDMI. As for the hardware specs of Android TV it will use Amlogic 1GHz Coretex A9 CPU, 512MB RAM, and 2GB of internal memory. If you need any additional space, there's a SD memory card slot that can support up to 32GB of storage space. There's also a USB port so you easily connect USB hard drive as well. As for connectivity, the Android TV boasts WiFi / Ethernet to bring you digital TV, internet TV as well as support for web browser, multimedia player, IM, and many apps from the Android Market.
Android TV sounds like a decent gadget, but is it really necessary? We'll keep everyone updated with further news once available.
