At its Google I/O event , Google let loose the next version of Android ie Ice Cream Sandwich. What is so special about it ? Well for one it makes the entire code base cross platform. What this means is that the same OS will run on your tablet , smartphone and even the desktop. The only change will be the UI. So what do we have here ?
It looks like Honeycomb can already change its UI depending on pixel density. As screen size increases , the pixel density decreases and this is where the usual Honeycomb UI is used. However if the screen has a pixel density greater than 170 , it automatically shifts to the Gingerbread UI as this is the range of densities found only in smartphones. It is possible to replicate the effect by artificially changing the density of your screen by using a root only app. Click through to the source for more instructions.
