Since AMD is in charge of development of Radeon graphics cards, all Radeon and PC gamers will be pleased to know that AMD has announced the new gaming orientated RadeonHD6800 series graphics card.


The RadeonHD6800 series features AMD's second generation of Microsoft DirectX 11 capable architecture as well as AMD Eyefinity that will allow you to use multiply displays with ease. Additional technologies include AMD HD3D for 3D environment, AMD Accelerated Parallel Processing, Unified Video Decoder 3 video playback accelerator, and support for DirectCompute and OpenCL.

The HD6800 series will feature two models � HD6850 and the HD6870. HD6870 will offer 900MHz engine clock speed, 1050MHz memory clock, and 134.4 Gbps memory bandwidth. It comes with 1120 Stream Processors and 56 Texture Units in the TeraScale 2 Unified Processing Architecture. HD6850 offers 755MHz engine clock, 1000MHz memory clock and 128 Gbps memory bandwidth. This model has 960 Stream Processors and 48 Texture Units.

Both models have 1GB GDDR5 memory and they offer DisplayPort 1.2 and HDMI 1.4a outputs. Models from HD6800 series use PCI Express 2.1 x15 bus interface and take two slots. The price of HD6850 starts at $179 while HD6870 will cost $239.
