War between browsers is still going on, and after the release of Internet Explorer 9 and Firefox 4, here are some stats about the browsers' market share. Internet Explorer 9 was boasted before its release and it has gained quite an audience but will that be enough to compete with Firefox 4?

According to the stats, it seems that Firefox 4 surpassed Internet Explorer 9 market share easily in just one day. According to stats, Firefox 4 currently holds 1.95% of the global market share while IE 9 holds 0.87% of market share. One of the main reasons for low market share of IE 9 is that IE 9 isn't compatible with Windows XP. As for other browsers, IE 8 is still the dominant browser and it holds 29.99% of the market share. In second place, there's Firefox 3.6 which still holds 24.43% of the market and Chrome 10 in third place.

Currently Internet Explorer holds 45% of the market, but according to StatCounter, its position is declining gradually. Who knows, after the success of Firefox 4, maybe Firefox will become the dominant browser someday?
