Though Nikon failed to come up with the much talked about mirror-lens launch at Photokina this year yet its 55-300 mm lens has surely attracted plenty of attention from the media. Nikon has come up with extended range telephoto zoom for DX users which it has named as 5-300mm F4.5-5.6 G ED VR lens. The lens offers 85-450 mm equivalent range and also comes up with VR 2 image stabilization technology.

The 55-300mm F4.5-5.6 G ED VR lens is already available on the market for Nikon fans for a price range of 369.99 only. The lens has 5.5 times zoom ratio and offers flexibility as it is easily able to extend the telephoto reach. The lens could easily be tagged as affordable and pretty much portable for telephoto photography. It is ideal for holidays and family shots.

The lens also incorporates the second generation vibration reduction (VR II) which helps the lens come up with sharper images when the camera is not mounted on a tripod. This could prove handy when clicking in slower shutter speeds and at longer focal lengths. Also, while shooting in low light the VR II technology can prove helpful.
