"Promoting synergy" is a pretty common mantra in todays corporate culture. It encourages all employees to work together in harmony to be stronger and more productive as a unit than they each would have been by working individually. The new game Corporate Fury [$1.99] from developer Swinecrafters is the exact opposite of this type of thinking. Instead, you are encouraged to battle coworkers in violent 3D arena brawls in an attempt to take their jobs away from them. There are a ton of wacky characters, plenty of crude humor, and enough fighting to satisfy any gamers needs in Corporate Fury, and it stands out as one of the more unique offerings for the iPhone.

The game takes place in a semi-open world that acts a large hub connecting the fighting arenas and story-related locations together. You start off as a lowly production worker who awakens after taking a brutal beating from your boss. Your buddy Mike, who also acts as the point man for setting up fights, is there to help you on your feet and explain what is going on since you cant quite remember after being beaten senseless. The first order of business is to visit the in-game shop called Franks Goods, then head back to Mike to fight in some low-level matches until you are strong enough to defeat your boss and take his job from him. You will continue this process as the storyline unfolds and as you defeat the team of increasingly higher ranked corporate executives, culminating with defeating the top CEO and taking over control of the company.

The overworld in Corporate Fury is fairly large, although not exactly as big as something you would find in a Grand Theft Auto or similar game. In this world the atmosphere has been rendered uninhabitable, so you are left with a large indoor city filled with plenty of areas to explore and crazy characters to talk to. An automap in the pause screen lets you pick from the key areas and set a handy waypoint that guides your character to them so you dont get lost. Graphically the game looks pretty decent, and runs fairly smoothly even on older devices. There are some jagged edges and characters arent exactly rife with detail, but the overall style of the game works really well and looks good. Most impressive is that the entire game loads quickly upon booting up, and there is no loading at all while playing the game itself.

Fighting in Corporate Fury is fun and totally over the top. An analog stick controls your movement with a button each for jump, punch, kick, and using a weapon. Early in the game its pretty basic, but as you defeat opponents you earn credits to use at Franks Goods. Here you can purchase an assortment of weapons, armors, special moves, and increased attributes. Once youve beefed up your fighter a bit, fighting gets more complex and satisfying. Its reminiscent of fighting enemies in the newer Ninja Gaiden or Devil May Cry games, as you can pull off crazy multi-hit combos on the ground and in the air. The weapons you can use are truly awesome, from hammers and knives to explosives and plasma cannons. The armor and accessories are equally interesting, and change the look of your character when equipped.

While Corporate Fury is a ton of fun to play, there are some issues in the game that really bothered me. Some of the opponents you must face to advance the story can be incredibly powerful, and youre stuck grinding away fighting random opponents until you can level up high enough to compete with them. Luckily the fighting is enjoyable and the assortment of random enemies is varied, so its not too much of an issue, but it can feel repetitive at times. Also, traveling around the city by foot can feel a bit arduous, and a quick teleport to the main locations in the game would be a welcome addition. Finally, while you can save manually at your apartment and the game saves automatically when exiting with the home button, in my experience this hasnt always been reliable and Ive lost progress because of it. It doesnt seem to be a widespread problem, and the developer is already working towards fixing these issues, but its worth mentioning.

Corporate Fury is an incredibly ambitious title for a mobile platform, and while there are some technical and game design related issues due to this fact, the good far outweighs the bad. With a competent fighting system, dozens of crazy characters, and an interesting world to explore, there is plenty here to keep you busy for quite a while. Just be prepared for the crude humor in the game that is full of sexual tones, foul language, and midget references aplenty. The trailer above will give you a great idea of what youre in store for, and could easily sell the game on its own. Players in our forums are loving the game, and Corporate Fury is one of those titles you just have to see to believe.

We were huge fans of Rocketcat Games original title, Hook Champ [$2.99 / Free], and love Super QuickHook [$2.99] even more Especially with the updates it has been getting. Super QuickHook came loaded with the fast paced endless Avalanche mode at launch, and the latest 1.3 update added Eruption mode. Eruption mode is even more difficult and requires either playing through most of the game or scoring over 4000 in Avalanche mode to unlock.

In addition, 1.3 adds six new playable characters. Three are unlockable in-game, and the other three are available via in-app purchase. Free characters include Gnomey, Aldora, and Hookbot the DLC character from Hook Champ. If youre willing to shell out a couple bucks, you can buy Jake and Gunny also from Hook Champ along with the new Super QuackHook, the grappling hook equipped duck. Each character comes with their own unlockable grappling hook and unique hats.

Theyve also packed some new achievements in to the game, with rewards for unlocking some of the difficult ones. In addition, if youve been having performance issues, theres now a toggle in the options allowing you to turn off a lot of the extra effects to improve frame rate. Some members of our forums have been reporting issues with some of the achievements, but the developers have been quick to respond and are already working on another quick update to address these problems.

If youve beaten everything there is to beat in Super QuickHook, make sure you download this update and give the new Eruption mode a try. If youve yet to download Super QuickHook and want to know more about the game, take a look at our full review.

In my previous article "M-Audio Fast Track Ultra" I said I would talk to you about DAWs or a Digital Audio Work Station. These are programs or software that you have to purchase to use on your computer. A Digital audio work station is a necessity for any home studio as its the program that records your music from your audio interface or mixer. Many wont want to spend the money to get a recording program, so they will settle for Audacity which is a free windows program that records, this will work but it doesnt offer anything else on it it is strictly an audio recorder.

I recommend everyone to purchase the program that works best for you, if youre on a Mac, use Logic Pro as it seems to be the most versatile and easy to use. If on a PC use Cubase or Sonar 8 Producer. Sonar 8 is cheaper but Cubase offers a more professional user interface to work with. There are many recording programs out there, from different price ranges. None will make your music sound any better, thats the audio interfaces job. They record, mix and also have compressors, EQ and sometimes effects to add. If at a retail store, ask someone to help you out I hope this helps people decide what to use to record with and which programs to look out for.

We recently got our hands on the Nokia E5, Nokias latest Eseries device after the E72. The E5 came alone in an envelope, so we couldnt really unbox it, but weve taken it for a spin to show it to you from all angles.

The E5 bares a lot of resemblance, hardware-wise and specs-wise with the Nokia E72. Its a candybar qwerty, and anyone who has used an E71 or E72 will find himself at home with the qwerty keyboard. Its the same texture as both of its predecessors, with the same rounded keys, and a nice feedback to them. On top of it is a 2.4? screen, 256k colors, with a light sensor and the ear piece.

Between the screen and the qwerty, is a silver plate where youll find the function keys and the d-pad. The two softkeys and the green/end call keys are flat whereas the Home and Messaging buttons are a tiny little bit raised. I had no problem with the first 4 keys, but the Home/Messaging are torturous. Theyre mushy, dont click in well, slippery, not very well raised, and I find my finger most of the time about to slip from the Home key to the left softkey or the green key below it. Im personally not a fan at all of these two.

The d-pads outer rim is large and raised enough to guarantee an easy press and no mis-clicks, and the center of the d-pad is also large so even though its recessed compared to the edges, its still easy to access without hitting the directional keys by mistake.

The top of the device holds the 3-pin charger, the 3.5 mm plug headset, and the microUSB plug which can be used for transferring data as well as charging.

The back of the E5 has the loudspeaker which isnt very loud esp in calls, a huge battery cover which is a brushed aluminum one. It doesnt get scratched easily, and it doesnt show fingerprints or smudges at all.

A 5MP camera with EDoF and an LED flash no autofocus, no Carl Zeiss lens, no dual-LED is nestled on the back as well. The cameras software supports Panorama mode, and the LED flash can be used during video capture.

The E5 features a very curved design, which makes it feel much slimmer than it is, and fit comfortably in the hand. The right side of the handset only houses the Volume keys which arent really the best out there in terms of feel and response. The left side keeps it simple with only a latch that helps open the battery cover, the same latch can also be found on the right side.

Below are a few more pictures of the E5, then well take a look under the battery cover and a small glimpse at the software.

The Nokia E5 houses a BL-4D battery, the same as the one in the Nokia N97 Mini for example, at a 1200mAh capacity. Its not the best out there, like the BP-5L found in the E71/72 family, but so far it seems to hold on pretty well to our testing.

Below the battery are two trays, one horizontal and one vertical, that house the SIM card and microSDHC card. The ugly part of this design is that you would have to remove the battery to swap microSDHC cards. Ive tested a 16GB one and the E5 took it with no problem, flying through its content.

Software-wise, the E5 comes with Social Networks in its blood. The Facebook integration with the Contacts phonebook is the same as with the Nokia C5 that we detailed earlier, and the standalone Facebook application is a newer versions that supports Likes and Comments, as well as Photo uploads, and even calling and SMSing friends if theyre tied to a contact in your phonebook.

The E5 also comes bundled with Ovi Contacts, Nokia Messaging for Email, and Nokia Messaging for IM which lets you converse with your Ovi / Yahoo / Windows Live / Gmail contacts.

There are also shortcuts to several other social networks mobile websites, like MySpace, Hi5, Friendster, and yes, unfortunately, that Twitter icon is merely a shortcut too. The good sign is that YouTube is finally the native application, instead of the mobile website shortcut.
