We're closing in on another holiday, guys, and that means one thing: sales. This week, Sega was the first to open up its library in celebration of Halloween. Until October 31, you can save up to 80-percent on some of it's more… unimpressive iOS efforts, including Gunstar Heroes and Virtua Fighter 2. I'm not sure if the hook for this was to scare us with lower prices or questionable games, but hey, a sale is a sale.

Here's the full list:

Nothing says spooky like ChuChu Rocket, right? In all seriousness, though, we're pretty stoked that Sega is slashing the price of this one in particular. It's a cool, fast-moving puzzle game that actually plays well on the iPad. You can catch our original review here, if the less-than-a-dollar price point isn't luring you in immediately. Here's our words of caution on Brick People, by the way.

Gameloft doesn't miss sales opportunities, so it's not much of a surprise to see a very select number of its titles get a price-slashing treatment this week in celebration of Make Kids Fat Night. Starting now and for a 'limited time,' you can save a bunch of dollars on decidedly un-spooky titles like Gameloft Action Pack, its MMO Order & Chaos Online, and Shrek Forever After: the Movie: the Game.

Here's the full list for perusing pleasure:

We're not 100-percent behind any of these, but we will note that the Gameloft Action Pack has a total of three decent titles bundled inside of it: Gameloft's answer to God of War, Hero of Sparta, its WWII shooter Brothers in Arms: Hour of Heroes, and its Mortal Kombat-ish homage, Blades of Fury. You could do worse with your dollar. For example: you could buy candy.

Fall 2011 is the unofficial season of anthropomorphized penguins. Don't believe me? Between the penguin sweater craze and the release of Happy Feet 2, adorable penguins are everywhere. Now, a third entry into fall's penguin lineup is here in the form of BulkyPix's super-cute new game, Crazy Escape [99]. And this one answers the question on everybody's mind: Can penguins drive tiny penguin cars, and if so, is it extra-adorable?

It's a story as old as time itself: Two penguin buddies have to take to their Jeep (err, low-emission 44 of indeterminate branding, I should say) to save their sheep friends from being kidnapped and eaten by wolves. As these penguins race along the winding road, they must collect sheep, stars (ostensibly because penguins like shiny objects?), keys (to unchain locked-up sheep, of course!), and avoid stationary wolves, roaming wolves, chasing wolves basically wolves of all kinds, all right?! You can run into fences (good) and trees (bad!), and the less road you cover to complete the level, the better.

Your finger acts as a simultaneous road-creating device and penguin-steerer. You drag your finger across the screen to create the path your penguins take. Ideally, you devise the shortest route possible to collect your stars and sheep friends, as this results in the highest score.

At first, it's not particularly challenging because there's no element of speed involved. However, as the game progresses, wolves start out on the road behind you, following your every movement, and if you dawdle too long you'll be busted for sure. Additionally, things like oil slicks and trees get in your path which, if hit, cause you to swerve (at best) or force you to restart the level (at worst). Here's hoping everyone was wearing their seatbelts!

The levels go by lightning-fast, so it's perfect if you have a short attention span or a short period of time in which to play. The graphics are also pretty cute. However, as it's a line-drawing game, the most important part is the drawing element. The worst part of so many drawing games is an imprecise, over-sensitive or otherwise less-than-ideal drawing mechanic.

Luckily, that's not the case with Crazy Escape. The drawing was perfectly in-sync with my finger; at times, perhaps a little too in-sync, as I have shaky hands (particularly when being chased by hungry wolves). My only real complaint is that on an iPhone or iPod touch screen, it's hard to see what you're doing. My chubby fingers kept blocking my view, which made it difficult to navigate around the increasingly challenging obstacles the game threw at me as I progressed.

Still, despite my fat fingers, I found this game to be extremely fun. For only a buck, there's really no excuse to not download this one. You get a seemingly-endless number of levels and a fun diversion, and it's Universal to boot. Besides, you don't want to find yourself ill-prepared for the fall penguin craze, do you?

Coming early next year, developer FarSight Studios will be bringing a massive collection of some of the most classic pinball games from throughout history to just about every single gaming platform imaginable. Of course, the one that matters most to us is the iOS platform, which the upcoming Pinball Arcade is indeed slated to hit. You're likely familiar with FarSight's previous pinball work, thePinball Hall of Fame series, with The Gottlieb Collection and The Williams Collection, each of which has landed on various platforms over the last several years. With The Pinball Arcade, they look to take a similar "collection" approach, only with far more licensed tables.

The Pinball Arcade lays claim to more than 50 different tables from classic companies like Williams and Gottlieb (naturally), Bally, and Stern. FarSight is calling the game "the most comprehensive pinball video game ever created" which it certainly will be if they can really achieve their lofty goal of included tables. Details are scarce at this point, but it sounds as if the game will initially ship with at least the tables mentioned in the above trailer, and possibly more, with a steady stream of additional tables being made available as downloadable content post release.

We'll look to dig up some more information on The Pinball Arcade as the new year approaches, but the prospect of having dozens of virtual representations of classic pinball machines available right in your pocket has players in our forums drooling in anticipation (myself included).

You probably know that Kinect can do all sorts of things, and with the release of Kinect software developer kit to the public, we were sure that we would see some interesting solutions, and now we have one of those solutions that lets us check our bank account with Kinect.
Lithuanian software developer Etronika has developed a new Kinect-based, motion-activated user interface for banking purposes. For the first time in order to navigate through your bank account you'll just have to swing your hands, and in order to view more information you just have to clap your hands and that's it. Of course, Etronika wants to take the limits even further and they plan to implant voice control along with facial recognition in the future.

With this hack, checking your bank account is fun and innovative, but you should know that although this new interface is fun, it's not as fast as the standard interface that includes both mouse and keyboard.

FaceTime is quite the hit on iOS devices, because it allows you to perform free video calls to iOS devices and to Max OS X. However, only problem with FaceTime is that you cannot use it with your PC, but luckily, there's an alternative for FaceTime called Nimbuzz.

Nimbuzz is designed for iOS devices and Windows computers, and with Nimbuzz you'll be able to perform video calls from iOS device to iOS device, iOS to PC, and PC to iOS over 3G and WiFi. In addition to regular video calls, you'll be able to perform video calls without audio, so users will be able to see each other even on the networks that have restricted VoIP services.

Nimbuzz is a good alternative to FaceTime, and according to the developer, Nimbuzz is coming to Android and Symbian platforms in the future, but currently, you can download Nimbuzz from App Store or from Nimbuzz website.

The advancement of Android in Asia is strikingly impressive. So when Samsung and Google decided to shift the Galaxy Nexus event to Hong Kong, it probably had to do something with the latest report from ABI analysis that reveals a tremendous 52% of the smartphones in Asia are running Android; as opposed to the 43% of the smartphone merchandize in the US.

The operating system of Android in Asia has gained 36% market share in the course of just one year. Now evaluating that most of Asia is still a developing business, only 27% cellular phones that are sold are smartphones, whereas the number dramatically doubles up in the US as 40%.

Also, the two biggest makers of Android phones, Samsung based in South Korea and HTC based in Taiwan, confirming that the Android market is huge in China. It is public knowledge that most of it is open-source nature; it allows small businesses and manufactures to produce Android devices without having to pay a license fee.

Now if Android keeps up its rampant progress, in the coming years Asia will become a highly integral and even central part of the smartphone industry, and the tech world; as analysts presently estimate the smartphone market share to double in the sub sequential five years. Android is also accomplishing great strides in tablet devices and other products. It will be a brutal feud as companies such as Pantech, Samsung and HTC keep striving to produce phone models for every price range, nonetheless, it would benefit the consumers.
