I have been invited to a nice little event here from Nokia Austria, dubbed "Nokia Deep Dive". The whole event was made to show a handful of bloggers and developers here in Austria, the newly introduced Symbian Anna and the 2 new devices that will come with it out of the box, the Nokia E6 and X7.

Announced as "extreme entertainment", the Nokia X7 shows once more, that the lines between Nokia's current naming are blurred. Of course, the X7 can entertain us all! It features the fancy music player we all love, or plays 720p mkv-files without conversion. But is there a real difference between this and, say a Nokia E7? Not much. Which, as i mentioned in my Nokia E7 hits and misses post, is not a bad thing at all! The real difference between the Nokia E7, is surely the design. The X-fighter (nice naming i read on Twitter) is shouty and very futuristic looking. It's dominated by a 4? AMOLED (not CBD) multitouchscreen, that comes in Nokia's good old (well, mostly old) 640 x 360 pixel resolution. It does NOT have 4 speakers as rumored earlier, but the 2 speakers inside are very good. The whole device is another great example of Nokia's brilliant build quality, being mostly made from aluminium. Similar to a Nokia E7, E6 or any other of the Symbian

Just about a month ago we saw the release of Final Fantasy III [$15.99] in the App Store, Square Enix's 3D remake of their 1990 NES role-playing game and an enhanced port of the 2006 Nintendo DS release. The iOS version is the definitive version of the game, featuring Retina Display graphics and an intuitive touch interface, and despite some archaic gameplay design as a result of being based on a game from 20 years ago, we thoroughly enjoyed Final Fantasy III in our review.

While Final Fantasy III was released for iPhone and iPod touch devices, many players in our forums noted that the game played extremely well on the larger screen of the iPad in 2x mode. Yesterday, however, Square Enix revealed on their Facebook page that they will be bringing a native iPad version of Final Fantasy III to the App Store this Thursday. It isn't clear whether there will be any further enhancements to the iPad version beyond a native resolution and screen size, but it should be a better experience than pixel-doubled mode for iPad gamers wanting to get in on some Final Fantasy III. Here's a single teaser shot from the iPad version:

In other Square Enix news, the developer has updated the teaser page for Chrono Trigger thatwe stumbled across last December to include a date of April 25th. Unfortunately, it appears that the date mentioned is in regards to a mobile version of Chrono Trigger for feature phones, and not the iOS iteration that we've been patiently anticipating. Since their recently announced new game specifically mentions smartphone devices, we would expect the same from the Chrono Trigger teaser page if it had anything to do with an iOS version of the game.

There's still no further word about the release date for the long, long awaited port of Final Fantasy Tactics on iOS either, but we'll keep digging around for more information on this and anything new with Chrono Trigger coming to iOS. Also, we'll take a look at the iPad version of Final Fantasy III when it hits the App Store this Thursday.

Starting off with the Nokia E6, i can not tell you how much i like this device. Being a long time E71/E72 fan, i always had a weak spot and was always hoping for a worthy replacement. And while some of you might disagree because of the camera, I'm fine with what i get. I'm not a fan of Nokia's recent idea of full focus cameras either, but usability still is No.1 for me. My hopes were high for a successor, that gets rid of the dusty old Symbian S60 3rd edition, and Nokia delivered. They even went on and replaced the old QVGA screens with a shiny new capacitive, multitouch touchscreen with a brand new VGA resolution. This results in a 326ppi, in other words, the screen is extremely sharp.

More on the Device and Symbian Anna in an upcoming post, meanwhile enjoy the pictures I took at the event, showing you all the sweet spots of the Nokia E6! As usual, all those pictures can be found in full resolution over at flickr, in my Nokia E6 picture set!

Say Hello to the Nokia E6!

Tons of Nokia E6's!

The keyboard is simply a joy to use!

A little downer: all the quick start buttons are made from one piece, no differentiation.

No mini-HDMI on this one!

The 8MP full focus camera with a dual LED flash

powered by a 1.500mAh BP-4L battery. battery life should be brilliant!

which color would you like? ;)
