Some of you gamers out there may remember a GameStop ad campaign from a couple of years ago featuring a foul-mouthed little bunny named Buck who would find himself in funny situations as he made his way through fake versions of Mario-like 2D platforming games. For reference, there is a nice montage video on YouTube showing some of Buck's commercials. The ads were a hit, and there was even a short-lived game available on GameStop's website that let you play through a level featured in one of the commercials. Now, GameStop has given Buck another chance at video game stardom in a new iPhone game just released on the App Store called Buck and the Coin of Destiny [99].

Buck and the Coin of Destiny is an auto-running platforming game that have become quite popular with the success of games like Canabalt [$2.99] and Monster Dash [99]. There's a Story mode that has Buck running through five different video game-themed levels in an effort to get from the start to the finish of each level as the story of the Coin of Destiny unfolds. For example, one level is reminiscent of the Legend of Zelda games, one is very Castlevania-esque, and before and after each level are some funny animated Buck the Bunny cutscenes. Buck automatically runs to the right and tapping the screen allows you to jump or double-jump as you collect coins and powerups while avoiding spikes, pits, and enemies.

The five levels of the Story mode are fairly short, and it won't take too long to complete the whole campaign. However, there is an Arcade mode that lets you play through any of the five level themes in randomly generated endless fashion. This mode has the potential for unlimited replayability, but I do have one small gripe about it. You start the endless portion with only one heart, meaning if you hit any hazard it's instantly game over. Like the Story mode, you can pick up additional hearts along the way, up to a total of eight. That's fine for the Story levels that have a definitive ending, but in endless mode the ability to pick up additional hearts can cause a game to drag on for a pretty long time. I'd much prefer to see how far I can make it with the threat of instant death looming, or even just a cap of 3 or 4 hearts instead.

The gameplay in Buck and the Coin of Destiny isn't the best available in the running platform genre, but it's really not bad at all. The jumping controls are responsive, the level designs are interesting, and it's simple and fun to play. I'm really surprised by how much I continue to come back to Coin of Destiny. The Story portion is pretty short, but a fun ride while it lasts. The end of the game offers a "to be continued…" so the brevity may be rectified in the future with updates. The endless Arcade mode is a great addition to lengthen out the game, even if it does tend to drag on a bit. There's also a number of achievements to earn in the game, and local scores are kept for the Story mode and each individual Arcade level. Sadly there's no Game Center integration or online functionality other than the ability to share your scores over Facebook.

If you were familiar with the GameStop Buck commercials, like many of the players in our forums, then you'll likely get your dollar's worth of enjoyment on the cutscenes alone. If you don't really care about the Buck character but are looking for a new running platform game, then Buck and the Coin of Destiny really isn't a bad choice at all. I'd really like to see the game evolve with updates to add more content to the Story mode, some tweaks to the endless Arcade mode, and some sort of online functionality for achievements and high scores. There's a really nice foundation in place here, and even in its current state Buck and the Coin of Destiny is a solid running platformer for the price.

If you've found yourself excited by all the coverage of Galaxy on Fire 2 lately between the initial set of screenshots, the WWDC hands-on, the teaser trailer, and finally the full trailer, this is a freebie you won't want to miss. Galaxy on Fire 3D was released in early 2009, and includes over 20 hours of space shootin' and tradin' gameplay. It feels a little dated compared to more recent shooters, but that doesn't make the game any less fun to play through.

Galaxy on Fire 2 is scheduled for release this October, and while I doubt that playing through the first one will be at all required to enjoy the second… There's no reason not to give this game a try, especially while it's free.

""If you've been searching for an excuse to either buy or replay either Spider: The Secret of Bryce Manor [$2.99 / HD] or Pix'n Love Rush [99], how about this: Both have been updated with Game Center support, sporting online leaderboards and achievements. In case you missed these games the first time around, here's the rundown on both:

Spider: The Secret of Bryce Manor, $2.99 Our game of the year for 2009, we explain the premise in our review:

Spider: The Secret of Bryce Manor is a beautifully created action (adventure?) game that places you in the role of a spider who must spin webs in order capture enough food to make it to the next level. Use up too much silk between meals and you won't survive.

""

As a spider, you are able to crawl across objects, jump great lengths and lay down silk to weave your web. Spinning a web simply requires you to create closed geometric shapes using your silk. Tapping on the spider toggles silk production while swiping on the spider causes it to jump. Finally, crawling is invoked by simply tapping on the screen. All in all, the controls work incredibly well and makes it feel like a natural iPhone game.

Pix'n Love Rush 99 An absolutely fantastic retro style high scoring game that is still one of my go to games when I have a few moments to spare. We explain how it works in our review:
Left and right arrows control movement, and separate buttons control jumping and firing. You can only shoot straight up in the air Space Invaders-style and must be cautious with your bullets as the ones that miss the mark will fall back down to the ground, possibly hitting you if you aren't careful. Collecting coins with a plus symbol will net you 250 points, and touching boxes with a minus symbol with deduct 500 points. There are enemies to take out with your weapon, sometimes moving and sometimes stationary, but there are also angels which must be protected from both the bad guys and your own errant bullets.

""

Grabbing coins without getting hurt while avoiding minus boxes will work towards building up a multiplier to x2, x5, and x10. A handy indicator in the upper right corner shows you how close you are to each one, and similarly a heart icon in the upper right displays your remaining life. Beyond worrying about what level type is thrown at you next, you must constantly be getting the good stuff while avoiding the bad stuff, and it's a wonderful challenge of your dexterity.

Both of these games are absolutely fantastic, and while I'm reluctant to call Pix'n Love Rush a classic quite yet, Spider is without a doubt. If you're looking for some great games to fill up your Game Center achievement listing, look no further than either of these.

Whilst I have myself never been wealthy enough to enjoy the luxury of business class seats on flights, I suspect some of our readers may have had this opportunity already. In the latest announcement from Air France, the airline will be introducing more comfortable seats, a more varied choice of dishes and a host of new services to its business class cabin.

This investment will approximately cost €110 million and as you can see, the new Air France business class seat guarantees the passengers the utmost privacy and enhanced comfort with its shell structure. If you're looking to travel via Air France as their business class customer, you won't need to wait very long until you get to see the new lie-flat seat bed which measures over two meters in length and features a new fixed footrest.

You'll also get more storage space and a 15-inch video screen in 16:9 format, which will be quite different from the usual nine inch or so economical class video screens especially if you're looking to do long haul trips.

Rumors are on the street that Facebook is currently working on a phone. The original source of the rumor is TechCrunch. Facebook spokesperson told Mashable that the rumor is not accurate and we are not working on any phone. Is he trying to hide something? May be yes, because when Mark Zuckerberg sat down with Techcrunch, then Micheal Arrington talked to him about the Facebook phone, on which he said:

On phones we can actually do something better. We can do a single sign-on if we do a good integration with a phone, rather than just doing something where you go to an app and it's automatically social or having to sign into each app individually. Those are the two options on the web. Why not for mobile? Just make it so that you log into your phone once, and then everything that you do on your phone is social.

If Facebook is not working on any phone, then Zuckerberg can clearly say "No", but he didn't. I think Mark is also hiding something, and he don't want to reveal it now because he is waiting for the right time. Bloomberg is also reporting that Facebook is working with INQ on two handsets, which will be powered by Android, and will be exclusive to AT&T. Is Facebook trying to make another KIN-type phone? There are millions of Facebook users and fans in the world, who love spending most of their time on Facebook. So I am sure that Facebook phone will not be a fail like the KIN. What do you guys think about a Facebook phone?

Were not giving preference to Pentax based launches at Photokina rather it is Pentax itself that is regularly coming up with plenty of attractive products at short intervals. We have already talked about the Pentax K-5 launch and now here is Pentax with another launch at Photokina. Pentax has recently launched the smc DA 18-135mm f3.5-5.6ED AL [IF] DC WR lens at Photokina.

The newly launched Pentax lens is weather resistant and is made up of 13 elements in 11 groups including, hybrid aspherical, lass-moulded aspherical elements and ED glass which helps the lense generate good image quality without increasing the size of the lens.

The lens also comes up with a DC motor which is built into the lens auto focus unit which assures extra smooth auto focus operations for better image results. The ED (extra low depression) glass element helps the lens capture amazing images with least amount of aberrations. It is also the reason behind the small size of lens as already described above.

The pack of Pentax K-5 body and the newly launched Pentax lens have been bundled for the price of 1699.99 which is understandable due to the various attractive features of the package.

Folks over at Android Central got their hands on a leaked image which is showing price details about the Vodafone HTC Desire HD. As we can see in the image above, the Desire HD is going for €359 on contract, which is actually $480, and it's for sure a very high price for a contract. If you want the device without any contract, then you have to pay €519, which $619. I think the contract price is only for one year, that's why it's expensive. Because 1 year contract price is always near to the unlock device price, and high too. So what I think is that this is a one year contract price. So you don't need to think that this is a 2 or 3 year contract price, but it would be good if we wait for Vodafone to come out and announce the pricing for it officially.

A few days ago, we told you that Sony Ericsson is planning to launch Android 2.1 for Xperia X10 in late September, but it was wrong because Sony Ericsson is now saying that they will bring the Android 2.1 to Xperia X10 family in late October. I don't know why SE is delaying it again, again and again. It's been a long time now, and Android 2.1 update is really important for Xperia X10 at the moment because all its competitors are on newer version. I hope SE will finally launch it in October, and will not delay it till November. Have a look on what SE is saying:

We have earlier given some information on what to expect from this update and said that the roll-out was planned to start late Q3.

The plan for the added features and Android 2.1 step-up still holds but unfortunately we need a couple of more weeks before we are ready to start the roll-out.

The revised plan is to start the roll-out from end of October and onwards.

We are of course not happy about the change of launch timing but we have had to spend some additional time on the software to really makes sure we roll-out with the right quality and user experience.

When it comes to what to expect from the updated software all three X10 models will be updated to Android 2.1 and the Xperia X10 will also get HD video recording with continuous auto focus among many other things.

SE also told us about the new features which will come in Android 2.1 update:

Xperia X10:

  • HD video recording with continuous auto-focus for high quality videos
  • Upgrade of the Android platform to Android 2.1
  • New back up and restore application, with extended content back up
  • 5 homescreens for apps, widgets, shortcuts and folders
  • Social phonebook which automatically syncs contact pictures from Facebook and shows when your friends are online

Xperia X10 mini and X10 mini pro:

  • Improved Bluetooth functionality with support for sending and receiving pictures, contacts and more
  • New backup and restore application with extended content back up
  • Automatic synchronization of your contact pictures between Facebook and your phone book
  • Improved ways of handling pictures, audio, text and numbers in your messages
  • Upgrade of the Android platform to Android platform 2.1

So folks I hope we will see Android 2.1 for X10 family by the end of October. So stay tuned for more !

""Yesterday, developer Capcom announced that they are having a 99 blowout sale on eight of their App Store titles. My personal picks of the bunch are Resident Evil 4 which is a scaled down version of the console title that still retains much of the same content and gameplay, and Dark Void Zero which is an 8-bit "demake" of the console title Dark Void and completely nails the feeling of playing an old NES game (right down to blowing in the cartridge when starting it up). Check over the list, and if there's something on there you've been waiting to pick up now would be a great time to do so.

Resident Evil 4, $4.99 ? 99

1942: First Strike, $1.99 ? 99

Mega Man II, $2.99 ? 99

Dark Void Zero, $2.99 ? 99

Cash Cab, $4.99 ? 99

Cash Cab: Las Vegas, $1.99 ? 99

Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader? 2010, $1.99 ? 99

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire 2010, $1.99 ? 99

The sale is set to last through the coming weekend, so make sure to grab any titles you want before they return to their original prices. As always, you can keep an eye on all the price changes throughout the App Store using AppShopper.com or the recently released AppShopper [Free] app for your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad.

Twitter might be one of the most popular social networking websites today, but it seems that Twitter is not safe as we thought. Since Twitter is one of the leading social networking websites, security should be its main priority, and even though Twitter may seem safe, hackers have still managed to find a security hole and exploit it (like always).

Twitter has more than 100 million of users and this security breach has put them all in danger. It seems that hackers have managed to find a security hole and abuse the JavaScript onMouseOver code. All that you have to do in order to activate this code is to hover over a certain tweet and you'll be automatically directed to a specific website. This is quite dangerous because you can be automatically redirected to a malicious website that can obtain your personal data or to adult websites. Good news for all Twitter users is that this code is only affecting twitter.com and if you're using Twitter via any other application you're perfectly safe.

Twitter states that they have already patched this issue and that no user information was compromised during the attack. According to the Twitter's safety chief, everything has been patched and it's fully working, but we have to ask ourselves for how long?

This isn't the first time that something like this happened, and you might recall similar attack that occurred in April 2009. We're just hoping that Twitter's security will be improved in future and that they'll deal better with security breaches.

And here's another Video from Nokia World 2010. This Time i met with Damian Dinning (or @phonedaz on Twitter), one of the People who were heavily involved in the AWESOME camera work on the Nokia N8!

What the Guys did, was printing a big photobook, with pictures taken with the Nokia N8. All the Pictures in the Book were absolutely unedited, just as they came out of the Camera. Unfortunately the Video isnt as sharp as i hoped it to be, but you can get the Idea. Nokia has really stepped up the Game here, not only beating all other smartphone camera, but also consumer cams, like pocket point and shoots etc. Being a hobby photographer like i am, the Nokia N8 is exactly what i want. period.

Damian was a very kind Guy, taking his Time to talk me through the whole book, as well as having a drink with us the day before Nokia World. Enjoy!
