OtterBox makes really sturdy cases for Phones and we discovered that here. But they have also released cases for the iPad. They sent us a OtterBox Commuter Series Case for Review . A plastic shell , silicon layer along with a screen protector offer 3 level protection for the device.
Here are the contents of the package
- The plastic and silicon portions of the case.
- Screen protector
- Cleaning cloth
- Applicator
- Instructions
It took us about 5 minutes to get the case on the iPad. It fits really well and it was a bit hard to get the top part of the iPad to fit into the right position.
Here is how the iPad looks with the case on. Not much too notice apart from frame running around the sides.
On the rear you would find a nice opening for the Apple logo along with a removable portion for using the dock.
Watch our video of the case in action
On the top you have openings for the earphone jack and a ridge for the power button.
One the side you have a opening for the lock ley and the volume keys are accesible too
The speaker is wisely not covered
The case like all cases adds some amount of thickness to the iPad but considering the face that it offers protection to the device, this is acceptable and not something we would complain about.
A support for a stand which is present in the Defender Series would have been good.
To conclude , the case offers good protection against bumps , scratches etc. and fits very well around the product. Removing it and adding it back is not going to be very easy. May be thats why it fits well.
Pros
- Really good overall protection
- Most ports covered
- Support for Docking
- Opening for Apple Logo
- Screen protector
Cons
- Dock cover fit not great
- Not very attractive
You can buy the case at OtterBox for $64.95
