Motorola has made the release date of its Droid R2-D2 smartphone official. The much awaited Motorola DROID R2-D2 will be available in stores on September 20th, 2010 without fail. The Motorola DROID R2-D2 will be available via Verizon Wireless. This special Star Wars edition collectible will be available for $249 after a $100 mail in rebate.

The special edition Motorola DROID R2-D2 Android phone will have ringtones, widgets, music, wallpapers and notification sounds from the very famous Star War movies. It will also have the Binocular App. This device is being launched to celebrate the 30 years of the amazing movie Star Wars. People will get a $100 mail in rebate after they sign the two year contract with Verizon.

The plans available will be the Nationwide Talk plan or the Nationwide Talk and Text Plan (which starts at $39.99 for every month). Along with these the Email & Web Access plan will cost them $29.99 per month. Those who buy this plan will get a $100 debit card which they can use anywhere around the country to enjoy the $100 rebate.

We are not sure if this will attract people like the movie did but we are sure that this will be loved by millions of Star Wars fans.
