Kinect for the Xbox 360 is very new and has just been released and is being sold in many stores. In Kinect you are the controller! The Kinect sensor could create many more opportunities for Microsoft to advertise and target an audience for selling video games. Microsoft's Dennis Durkin said

"overtime the Kinect camera's ability to distinguish between different users, and therefore tailor content to each user, will help us be more targeted about what content choices we present; what advertising we present; how we get better feedback and data; about how many people are in a room when an advertisement is shown; how many people are in a room when a game is being played."

The Kinect has sensors, camera and a hearing piece inside of it, meaning Microsoft "could" watch you and listen to what you are saying. This could help them make more targeted games with the audience that are playing. This may sound scary to many, but don't worry that was just an idea that was brought up at a conference. Currently the Kinect does not watch you or listen to you for advertising ideas, for now.
