NVIDIA has announced its new consumer GPU based on the NVIDIA Fermi architecture, the GeForce GTX580 that is the world's fastest DirectX 11 GPU. The GTX580 sports support for NVIDIA 3D Vision, 3D Vision Surround, HD PureVideo HD, PhysX, SLI and CUDA technologies as well OpenGL 4.1.
The GeForce GTX580 has 512 CUDA cores and has 772MHz graphics clock speed and 1544MHz processor clock speed, bringing a new level of geometric realism with 2 billion triangles/second. It comes standard with 1536MB GDDR5 memory with 2004MHz clock speed and 192.4GB/s memory bandwidth.
For a premium, high spec level GPU like the NVIDIA GeForce GTX580, we're not surprised to see it priced at $499.
