According to the reports, this accessory is smart enough to identify suspects while looking up a criminal records so it can be quite helpful to the police officers in in the process of catching the criminals. In order for police officers to use this device, they'll need a picture of a person's face or iris for identification, and that's all.
This device is called Mobile Offender Recognition and Information System (MORIS). It connects to iPhone that shoots photos of the suspect before retrieving the results. As for the accuracy of this device, it relies on 130 attributes before making identification, but there's also a fingerprint scanner included as well.
We have to mention that facial recognition feature works from a range of 2 to 5 feet. As for the price of this device, an entire device costs about $3000, so we doubt that every police officer on the street will have one.
