As you probably know, competition between Bing and Google is still fierce and now it has moved to another front. Search engines have been present on smartphones for a long time and it's no wonder to see that competition between Bing and Google is taking place on another front called Samsung Fascinate.

One of Samsung's latest phones, the Samsung Fascinate from Verizon comes with Bing search instead of Google. The reason why this phone has entrusted Microsoft is because Verizon and Microsoft made a deal to promote Bing.

It seems strange to see Bing as a default and only search engine on an Android OS phone and this move has made many Google users irritated because it's not simple to get and install a Google Search application. Luckily for all Google fans out there, Samsung Fascinate will get the recent Android 2.2 update and with the updated version of Android OS comes support for Google Search.

All Samsung Fascinate users will be able to download Google Search application, but sadly, Bing will remain the default search engine on this phone. This means that you can't change your default search engine, but at least you could use an alternative, still it seems daft to me that users can't have their own preference. If you press the search button, you'll still automatically be using Bing not Google.
